Chittagong Board Ready to Hold Postponed HSC Exams, Ministry Decision Pending
The education board says flood conditions have improved and is waiting for the Ministry of Education to announce new examination dates.
The Chittagong Education Board has completed its preparations to hold the postponed HSC examinations and is now waiting for a decision from the Ministry of Education. The board has informed the ministry in writing that the situation in the affected areas has improved and is suitable for conducting the remaining examinations.
According to sources from the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, the board recently met with district administrators (DCs) from districts under the Chittagong Education Board. During the meeting, the DCs said the flood situation had improved and that the examinations could now be held. Based on those assessments, the board formally informed the ministry that conditions were favorable.
Sources said the Ministry of Education may announce its decision on the postponed examinations on Thursday. If no decision is made on that day, a decision is expected next week. The examination schedule will be announced only after the ministry gives its approval.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, confirmed that the matter has been forwarded to the ministry.
“The DCs of various districts under the Chittagong Board have informed us that the situation is favorable. We have informed the ministry about the matter in writing. Now, the ministry will make the next decision. Action will be taken according to whatever decision is made,” he told the media.
Earlier, a notice circulated on social media claiming that the postponed HSC examinations under the Chittagong Education Board would begin on July 27, 2026. However, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers Committee said the notice was fake and misleading.

In an urgent public notice signed on Tuesday, July 21, by Professor Jesmin Taslima Banu, Convener of the Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers Committee and Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Education Board, the committee said no decision had been taken to resume the examinations on July 27. It also stated that neither the Inter-Education Board nor the Chittagong Education Board had any connection with the circulated notice.
The committee urged students, parents, and the public not to trust or share unverified information on social media. It said all official examination decisions and notices are published only through the Ministry of Education, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers Committee, and the respective education boards' official websites and verified Facebook pages.
The remaining HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chittagong Education Board were postponed on July 16 after continuous rainfall caused flooding in several areas. Authorities cited the overall flood situation, the physical and mental condition of examinees, and road communication problems as the reasons for the postponement.
The remaining Alim examinations under the Madrasa Education Board and the HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma in Commerce examinations under the Technical Education Board were also postponed at the same time.
Officials have said the revised examination schedule will be announced through a separate notice after the ministry makes its final decision. Until then, HSC and equivalent examinations under all other education boards in Bangladesh continue according to the previously announced schedule.
